The pre-k program at Bellshire includes 2 regular education classrooms and one Life Skills special education classroom. Application to the regular education program is made in the spring during the pre-enrollment period. Children must be 4 by September 30th to enroll in the pre-k program. Children are assessed at the time of enrollment and priority is given to those with the greatest need. Children who qualify and are zoned to Bellshire are given first priority followed by children who are in the Hunters Lane Cluster. Children outside the cluster can be placed in the Bellshire program if space is available. Class size is limited to 18 regular education students and 2 special education students in each class. There is a teacher and assistant teacher in each class.
Children may enter the building at 7:45 and are considered tardy after 8:00. We offer breakfast and lunch to the children and applications are available for free/reduced lunch at the time of registration. Dismissal is at 2:00 and the YMCA Fun Company offers before and after care for pre-k children. Fun Company information is available through the Maddox Family YMCA (East Y).
Our pre-k program offers developmentally appropriate activities to help prepare children for successful entry into kindergarten. This includes academic, social/emotional, fine motor, and self-help skills. In the spring we will offer an open house for parents to meet the pre-k teachers for a question and answer session. A supply list will be added to the website later in the school year.
